Remembering the Gospel

We recently conducted an intake appointment with a woman who is experiencing immense difficulty as she wades through trial after trial.

For the past two years, her life has consisted of much relational strife due to a divorce, financial hardship as a result of losing her business, bouts of severe depression/anxiety and she struggles to see a way out of her situation.

We did our best to provide her with as many resources as we could to help her see that there is a community surrounding her willing to offer the love and care she needs to get back on her feet.

Towards the conclusion of our time together with her, our intake volunteer turned the conversation to the name of our organization, Love In the Name of Christ. It was shared that God’s love has been demonstrated to us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Rom. 5:8). God gave His one and only Son to die in our place, and we can have the hope of heaven and abundant life by simply trusting in what He has accomplished on the cross for us.

Earlier in the talk the woman had shared that she was a believer. As the gospel was being spoken over her once more, she teared up and said,

“Thank you…sometimes you just need to be reminded of what Christ has done for you. All of these resources are helpful, but they’re not what’s ultimately most important. I am feeling much more encouraged to press on now.”

What an incredible reminder about the hope that is constantly found in Jesus Christ!

“Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descendant of David, according to my gospel.”- 2 Timothy 2:8
