Pain Management Clinic A Success!

Pain Clinic Collage

Partnerships are the life-blood of our community.  George Fox University provided an amazing intern from the Organizational Communications department to coordinate Love INC’s latest pain management clinic.  This intern was able to find 36 medical professionals and church volunteers to help make this our most successful pain clinic to date.  Here is one of many love stories from the event:

“Matt” came ...

Shelter Guest’s Dream Come True

Posted by:

“Elizabeth,” a former guest in the shelter, has been out on her own for the last nine months.  While it has been a difficult transition, she has managed to stay afloat thanks to the lessons she learned in the Relational Ministry Money Management classes and living with roommates.

This last month Elizabeth was able to get a 2nd job, which would allow her to be able to afford to live in her own place.  She is now living her dream, something ...

Daily Tracking Leaves Money in the Bank!

Posted by:

As many of us know, keeping track of our expenses is first step to gain control of our finances.  In the Money Management class at Relational Ministry, many of our clients are experiencing the joy of gaining control of their finances for the first time!

“Miguel” has been using the daily expense book given to him in class to record everything he spends money on.  He was able to realize exactly how much he was spending, correct the problem areas, and ...

The Scouts are Making a Difference!

Posted by:

The youngest members of our community are giving back, any way they can!  A troop of Boy Scouts recently made numerous gallons of laundry soap to help reduce daily household expenses for our clients.  Another troop of Girl Scouts just dropped off “birthdays in a bag,” which contain supplies (even cake mix!) to make our client’s birthday celebration a success.

Just one more example of people in our community doing what they can to make a difference.

New Ramp

Posted by:

Before-after

For the last nine years Love INC has been serving our community, any way we can.  Without easy access to the Clearinghouse for people in wheelchairs or walkers, we’ve sometimes had to resort to completing their intake in the front yard!

Habitat for Humanity saw our need for wheelchair access.  A group of volunteers built a ramp for the Clearinghouse at only the cost of materials.  This ...

Teamwork Makes All the Difference

Posted by:

In the past month four clinics were held for dental work.  25 volunteers sacrificed their time and efforts to serve 33 clients, totaling $15,483.50 in services!  These statistics do not do these clinics justice.  So many lives were touched, both patient and volunteer.  “[God] performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted.” –Job 9:10

A most remarkable tag team was assembled when x-rays were needed on a patient who had a very clingy toddler who cried when he ...

Feeding the 5,000

Posted by:

Last weekend, a child coming back from Sunday School, dropped off a lunch bag to the Love INC Clearinghouse.  He told us that his teacher assigned the class to find someone to share their lunch with to symbolize the boy who fed the 5,000.  This boy chose Love INC.

“When Jesus looked out and saw that a large crowd had arrived, he said to Philip, “Where can we buy bread to feed these people?” He said this to stretch Philip’s faith. ...

A Job for a Shelter Guest

Posted by:

A shelter host recently noticed that one of our shelter guests was very good with children.  “Gretchen” had been volunteering at a local church on Sunday mornings, and loved every minute of it.  With this host’s help, Gretchen is now volunteering four days a week with a local non-profit that cares for children!

The Lord Provides

Posted by:

So many stories of blessings come out of participants from Relational Ministry, but here is a first-hand account of a client passing that blessing on to someone else:

“I was in the supermarket last week at the checkout counter and had just paid with food stamps.  I didn’t want to spend my money because I owed my buddy $5.  This really old man came to the counter behind me, I looked on the counter and you could tell that he had ...

Starting Over

Posted by:

Recently a client came into the Clearinghouse starting over in a brand new apartment.  He had nothing to furnish or supply his new place, and was accessing many of the helpful gap ministries to assist him in this task.  When he asked for an item that Love INC ministries do not provide, a client behind him in line offered to give him one from her own home!

The spirit of giving is alive at Love INC!  We can’t wait to see ...
